Swedish electric passenger vessel

The Candela P-12 makes you want to use public transport.

The 39 feet (12-meter) carbon fibre bodied Candela electric passenger vessel comes with hydrofoils. Those underwater wings make the body of the vessel raise above the waves and this decreases the energy consumption 5 times!

At the speed of 16 nautical miles per hour, or 16 knots (18 mph, 30 km/h) the boat’s body lifts out of the water. The maximum speed is 27 knots (31 mph, 50 km/h). Flying above the waves the ride is comfortable. It also means the boat doesn’t create waves. The electric vessel is silent and it does not smell diesel.

The Candela P-12 can be configured with up to 30 passenger seats. The number of seats depends on how much space is left for bicycles.

The first public transport route for the Candela P-12 is from Klara Mälarstrand quay in Stockholm to Ekerö. The journey takes about half an hour. If you want to test it out, keep in mind that the route is not operated in the winter because of ice.
