BMW i5 L

The BMW 5 Series has been regarded as the world’s most successful business sedan.

The long-wheelbase version—built in China for China—combines BMW’s trademark driving dynamics with luxury.

Extended wheelbase means the rear doors are longer.

Compared with the short-wheelbase i5, the i5 L has its wheelbase extended by 4.7″ / 12 cm, creating significantly more rear passenger space. The model’s distinctive proportions are complemented by a unique roofline that flows gently into the rear, giving the car an elegant yet sporty silhouette.

An exclusive detail made for the Chinese market: the illuminated number “5” on the C-pillar emits a pulsating blue light when the battery is charging.

Practicality has also been improved: in addition to the charging port on the rear right wing, the i5 L features a second charging port on the left front wing.

Visually, the i5 conveys the confident stance expected from BMW’s flagship business sedan. Its upright front section projects a sense of authority.

The car can be unlocked with a smartphone or Apple Watch. When outside the vehicle, automatic parking and maneuvering up to 200 m / 650 feet can also be controlled with a smartphone.

One of the most striking features of the i5 L is borrowed from the BMW i7. Rear passengers can enjoy a massive 31-inch BMW Theatre Screen with 8K resolution and 5G connectivity. Paired with the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System, it turns the car into a private cinema on wheels.

The BMW i5 was awarded the title of World Luxury Car by a jury of around a hundred automotive journalists.
