2027 Mercedes-AMG CLA

The electric Mercedes-Benz CLA was crowned European Car of the Year. Then AMG made it extra powerful.

The AMG CLA features axial-flux motors, one at the front and two on the rear axle. These groundbreaking motors first appeared in the electric Mercedes-AMG GT four door coupé. The CLA has the same engines, but the total output of the engines is limited to 500 kW. Despite the limited power, the CLA offers supercar-level performance: acceleration from standstill to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and 0-100 km/h in 3.0 seconds.

Energy is provided by a high-capacity 94 kWh battery. The peak charging power is 330 kW.

The AMG-version has widened front wings to accommodate a broader front axle. Optional available are forged wheels, which are lighter and stronger at the same time.

Active aerodynamics play a major role too: in AMGFORCE S+ and RACE modes, the rear spoiler deploys immediately to generate downforce and add visual drama.

In Eco, Comfort and Sport modes, the rear spoiler extends at 90 mph / 145 km/h into such a position that is designed to minimise aerodynamic drag!

Despite being electric, the CLA doesn’t abandon AMG’s emotional appeal. This car makes the sound of a four-cylinder AMG (A 45 S) engine, complete with simulated gear changes, providing a CO2-free driving experience that is engaging.

Track day enthusiasts are well catered for. The AMG TRACK PACE system records 80 data points 10 times per second and famous racing circuits are pre-installed in the car.

For drivers seeking maximum performance, the AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package adds a dedicated RACE driving programme which includes adjustable traction control, pedal sensitivity adjustment and steering sensitivity adjustment. The suspension is lower and firmer. Driver assistance systems step back. Launch control turns every standing start into an event with synchronized sound, seatbelt tensioning, lighting effects, vibrations and an explosive getaway!
