The A6 L e-tron highlights how differently Audi approaches the market in China compared with the rest of the world. While global customers receive the electric A6 in short-wheelbase form and with Sportback hatchback or Avant body style, Chinese buyers get a long-wheelbase sedan only.

The A6 L e-tron is built by Audi-FAW joint venture where FAW holds a 60% majority stake and Volkswagen has 40%. In addition to partnership with FAW, Audi produces cars in China also together with SAIC (a 50:50 joint venture between SAIC and Volkswagen). In partnership with SAIC the vehicles are produced under the separate ‘AUDI’ brand (written in capital letters).

The A6 L e-tron’s wheelbase is 5.2″ / 132 mm longer, which gives more legroom for rear passengers and allowed the installation of a 7% larger battery.

The A6 L uses Huawei’s intelligent driving technology, which combines data from 32 sensors, including lidars, radars, cameras and other devices.

Lidar uses laser pulses to measure distances and create a detailed three-dimensional view of the surroundings, while radar relies on radio waves to determine the position and speed of nearby objects. Together with cameras and additional sensors, the system provides the vehicle with a comprehensive understanding of its environment, supporting advanced driver-assistance functions.

The augmented reality head-up display gives the driver the impression that projected information and elements are floating up to 200 m / yards ahead and interacting directly with elements in the real environment.

The Audi A6 L Quattro version has a total output of 405 kW across two motors and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds.
